Asahi Pentax / Honeywell Pentax / Takumar
$ 140.00
Vintage Pentax Super-Takumar 50mm f1.4 prime lens, with original leather case and caps. This lens is known for its tack sharp image reproduction and painting-like background blur (bokeh) thanks to the use of thoriated glass elements - identified by the warm, yellow tint of the glass. This collector grade, 7 element version was originally offered by Asahi Pentax between 1965 and 1971.
Exceptional condition, very little wear. Precision machined all metal and glass construction. Fits all M42 screw type mount film cameras and can be adapted to work on most modern DSLR, 4/3 and full frame cameras. For more information about this lens and the use of (mildly) radioactive thorium glass, you can find videos here. Example images shown were taken with this lens on a Canon T6s DSLR camera, auto white balanced, using a M42 to EOS adapter. Black and white photos taken on Pentax Spotmatic II body using Neopan Acros 100 film. Note that as thoriated glass ages, it will tint more, bringing a warmth and vintage look to color film and added depth / contrast to black and white film. This can be reversed if desired with concentrated UV exposure.
Serviced and field tested. Made in Japan.
